The Fort Smith Mardi Gras



The Inaugural Fort Smith Mardi Gras will be held in downtown Fort Smith, AR from February 13, 2017 to February 28, 2017. This series of events will benefit local charities Heart to Heart

and Earth Bound Angels as well as other organizations. This series of fundraising events will be held in downtown Fort Smith on Garrison Ave from the 10th Block of Garrison Ave to the 2nd

block of Garrison Ave. with some events occurring in Brunswick Place. Just click the event you are interested in below to find more details.

February 13-25, 2017

Live Art Contest Downtown:

The Art portion of the festival will feature High School and Professional Artists making an array of art that will range from sculptures to sketches to paintings to photographs. 

Each artist will set up within or right in front of (depending on weather) participating venues in Brunwick Place and venues on Garrison Ave. from February 13 - 23, 2017. 

Finished Art pieces will be displayed in The Goin's Building at 900 Garrison Ave on Saturday February 25th.  Celebrity Judges will include Dr. and Mrs. Beren of UFAS, Larry Millican of Bedford, Daniel

Milton HorseChief, and Ana Maria well know for her murals in Unexpected Project.  Winners will be announced at the Masquerade Ball on February 27, 2017.

It's a first of its kind!  Come downtown to up to 15 different venues to watch High School, College, and Professional Artists create art LIVE!  From sketches to paintings to photography to

sculpture, several venues downtown are hosting artists as they create art so that the public can watch this awesome process!

Live Art Contest Schedule

February 25, 2017


9am - 10pm

Street Vendors:

Vendors will be lining Garrison Ave. from 2nd to 10th Streets from 9am until 8pm!   Arts, Crafts, Food, and Drink vendors will be out from 9am until 10pm to tempt your pocket books!To

apply to be a vendor, click the forms tab at the top of this page.



11am - 4pm

Mardi Gras Village for Kids:


A Kids Village will be featured in Pendergraft Park, with Breezeway as an alternate location. Kids crafts, carnival style events, mardi gras mask making station, face painting as well as

balloons, live music, and other activities will be available for the kids to enjoy.  Our Kids Village will host our first act, Melody Pond, a Fayetteville, AR treasure that has recently recorded their own

kids album! Their show will go from 11am until 1pm at Pendergraft Park.  



4pm - 5pm

Inaugural Fort Smith Mardi Gras Parade:


Of course there will be a Parade! This integral part of any Mardi Gras will start at 4pm. It’s path will span from N. 6th to N. 10th to Rogers and back to N. 6th. Be sure to enter your

float/krewe now! Entry forms can be found on the "Forms" tab of this Website.


Mardi Gras Bash:

5pm - 1am 

Our Kids Village will host our first act, Melody Pond, a Fayetteville, AR treasure that has recently recorded their own kids album!  Their show will go from 11am until 1pm at Pendergraft Park.  

Live Music starting at 5pm with Emi Sunshine and The Rain, followed by the Battle of the Bands, The Rap Stage will be held at The Sound Room followed by Festival favorite, Dirtfoot.  

Don't forget The Masquerade Ball with Grammy Award winner, Chubby Carrier and our live art auction on Monday,  February 27th (Lundi Gras) at The Sound Room! R. Landry's on Feb 28th

will host Trey Johnston Band.   Plenty more music is planned at several other venues downtown throughout Saturday, February 25th.  Stay tuned for more of those announcements.

Emi Sunshine and The Rain is a suggested donation of $10 event that will take place at The Sound Room. All money raised will go directly to Make-A-Wish!

80's Mardi Gras Bash with MEMBERS ONLY @ Wishbone's Music Joint

Members Only will be melting faces at Wishbone's Music Joint playing all your favorite 80's hits.

FS Mardi Gras Collectors Cup Special:

To cap off the day’s events, there will be a “Pub and Grub Walk" or "crawl" type event starting at 8pm where close to a dozen venues downtown will be offering severely discounted beverages to refill

collectors Mardi Gras cups that can be bought for 5$.

2017.  Make sure to bring your own tables for merchandise and chairs.  Tables for your merchandise must be at within a 2 x 8 foot perimeter.  Drop off the form and payment at R. Landry's by

February 15th!

We are accepting entries for High School, College, and Master Class Levels.  Sponsors are being recruited to pay for all fees.  All the entrant should have to

provide is basic supplies like brushes, pencils and materials.
